Boomer’s Legacy Foundation 40%

This foundation has been developed to aid the women and children in Afghanistan, and in doing so we will honour all of our soldiers who have served there, especially those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

“Boomer’s Legacy” is named in remembrance of Corporal Andrew James Eykelenboom, a Canadian military medic who was killed by a suicide bomber in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan in August 2006 at age 23. While serving in Afghanistan, Andrew (known to his friends as “Boomer”) recognized numerous opportunities for assisting the Afghan people through the distribution of medical supplies, educational material, books and warm clothing. In small, personal ways, Boomer and his comrades felt they were able to make a special contribution to bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan. Boomer’s Legacy has been created to further these accomplishments.

Soldier On Fund 5%

The Soldier On Fund enhances and complements, it does not replace, all other sources of public and non-public funding programs. It is one of several non-public property (NPP) funds benefiting CF personnel, former personnel and their families. Others are the Military Families Fund and the Hospital Comforts Fund.

The Soldier On Fund may be used to support not only currently serving CF personnel, but also former personnel and families of ill and injured. So far, the Soldier On Fund has provided financial grants to accomplish the following:

-    purchasing adaptive sports equipment and equipment that supports an adaptive lifestyle, including a custom mountain bike, a basketball wheelchair, a hockey sledge, a rowing shell and customized home gyms; and

-    subsidizing the expenses of physical, recreational or sport related activity that directly contributes to attaining a healthy and active lifestyle.

Military Families Fund 5% The Military Families Fund was created in April 2007 by General Rick Hillier, the former Chief of Defence Staff to assist military families faced with unforeseen and often immediate needs that have resulted due to conditions of service. The fund continues to grow through the generous contributions of Canadians, corporations and other organizations, adding a new vehicle to support Canadian Forces members and their families.
